I have been consumed by your book, “Return of the Antichrist and The New World Order,” since it arrived, and now I have finished reading it. For the first time. No doubt, my desire is to re-read it again and again. To say that the book is fascinating is an understatement, for the subject at hand has grave and eternal consequences.I have read hundreds of fascinating books, but I say here unequivocally that this book has been “the” most profound and captivating of them all. Patrick, I commend your years of meticulous work and research, as well as for a talented writing style which is comfortable and understandable to the reader. Your touches of wry humor in places were most welcomed, as it made me feel that “yeah, this guy is one of us” and not some lofty scholar consumed with self-importance and speaking over our heads. The best part about the book is that it addresses head on the questions & confusions I have carried for a long time. I now understand how my questions & confusions came to be in the first place.The book documents everything with Scripture. It corrects errors in translation from the original texts, errors which I consider to be a fundamental blunder on the part of the church through the ages. I greatly appreciated being introduced to the “lost” Book of Enoch. In this regard, your book is extremely timely in this age of “increased knowledge” and of mysteries now unveiled. All my questions have been answered, and all my skepticisms have been put to rest. Having read your book makes re-reading the Bible ever more understandable because of the accompanying context.It is abundantly clear that your sincere and sole aim is to reach as many souls as possible before the Rapture. God bless you!! Everyone needs to read this book. Skeptics and unbelievers would be better served by reading this book first, as I have no doubt that it will lead them to reading the Bible for the first time, if not with “new eyes.” I am going to purchase many more copies of your book and pass them out in lieu of standard gifts, as what better way is there to show love than to care about the eternal state of another’s soul? New Light on ‘The Fallen Ones’ of Genesis 6
It is because we are in the End Times that knowledge is being increased. Not just technological and scientific knowledge but Biblical knowledge also. This is what Gabriel prophesied at the conclusion to the Book of Daniel.
I believe what I am about to write now is what Americans term ‘heavy duty’ information. But it is also, in my humble opinion, cutting edge Bible prophecy. The reader may decide on this. However, one proverb to bear in mind as you set out to contemplate this essay is this: You cannot put new wine into old wineskins. None of us want to be ‘old wineskins’.
Many of my fellow End Times authors and teachers have recently zeroed in on a phrase the Messiah used when speaking to his disciples regarding the signs of the end of this age and of his parousia ; his coming. “As it was in the days of Noah…so shall it be.” Several of these esteemed writers go on to say that the Nephilim were on the earth in the days of Noah, and these were the giants who were the offspring of the fallen angels. These hybrid offspring went on to commit foul deeds which eventually caused the whole world to be filled with violence and evil and bloodshed and there was only evil in men’s hearts continually (Gen 6).
‘As it was, so shall it be.’ Thus, they conclude, once the Apocalypse kicks in, the earth will again be filled with these hybrid giants and mutants who will cause mayhem and havoc and do much damage to believers and the world at large. Some even insist that presently, in secret government tunnels under the mountains ofColorado orNew Mexico, human doctors and engineers working together with fallen angels are genetically modifying these hybrid mutants in preparation for the coming day. Some refer to these giant offspring as super-soldiers which are to emerge at some point in the near future and run riot all over the world, just as they did in the days prior to the Flood of Noah.
I believe this thesis is fundamentally flawed. But first I must point out that I am a ‘meat and potatoes’ man. This has nothing to do with me being Irish (although I do love my spuds). What I mean is, I have to see something written in black and white in Scripture, and it has to be as clear as day to me before I will allow it. That is, give me chapter and verse on any topic, before I will accept it as gospel, as it were. Thus everything I will promote here is backed up by Scripture.
To begin; the Nephilim are NOT the giants who were the offspring of the fallen angels. ‘Nephilim’ is a Hebrew word derived from ‘nephal’ meaning ‘to fall’. Thus ‘nephilim’ literally means ‘the fallen ones’. The majority of Hebrew scholars will vouch for this.
So when Genesis 6 says, “the Nephilim were on the earth in those days”, it is referring to the fallen angels themselves. Not to giants which is a different word entirely in Hebrew. For the Nephilim fell from grace, fell from Heaven and fell to earth. Also, when it says the fallen ones were ‘on the earth’ in those days, the inference is that prior to the days of Noah, they were not on the earth, for they were still in Heaven.
To prove this point, I will briefly give you several phrases from Scripture which talk of angels coming to earth from Heaven:
“I beheld Satan as lightening FALL to earth.” Luke 10:17
“How are thou FALLEN from Heaven, o Lucifer…” Isaiah 14:12
“I saw a star (angel) FALL from Heaven unto the earth…” Rev. 9:1
“And the stars (angels) of Heaven FELL unto the earth like figs…” Rev. 6:13
“And they are seven kings (angels), five have fallen, one is and one is to come.”
Rev. 17:10
The same holds true for the Book of Enoch whom Jude, the brother of Jesus, quoted directly from. Here are just a couple of examples:
“I saw many stars (angels) FALL and cast themselves from the heavens…” Book of Enoch 86:3
“He seized the first star that had FALLEN from the heavens…” Book of Enoch 88:1
The Holy Spirit could have used different words to describe evil angels descending to earth from Heaven. But He used the words ‘fall’ and ‘fallen’. This shows us that the Nephilim, the ‘fallen ones’ of Genesis 6, are indeed those evil sons of God that rebelled with Satan and tried to usurp the throne of the Most High God back in the distant past. These were the gods and heroes and men of renown that we read about in so called Greek and Roman and Egyptian mythology.
According to the Book of Enoch, these 200 fallen angels descended onMount Hermonin the days of Jared. Jared was born circa 1,200 years prior to the Flood. Thus, these evil spirit men were on earth mating with human women for perhaps 1,000 years or so before the Flood of Noah. It is plain to see why the whole population of the world, perhaps 20 or 30 million according to some scholars, were all infected in their DNA by these beings by the time the deluge swamped the earth. Only Noah and his family were not corrupted by the evil that pervaded the land at that time.
It grieved God in His heart that he had made man and He sent the Flood. All of mankind were drowned. The giants, which were the hybrid offspring of humans with spirits (fallen angels), were also drowned. But you cannot drown spirit beings. And we are informed that these same angels who sinned in the days of Noah are locked up in a subterranean prison called the bottomless pit or the Abyss, to await a future day of judgement.
But now back to where we began this quest. When people teach that, ‘as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be’, they are quite right. But the main event and the big occurrence which took place in those days was not that giants appeared on the earth. It was that superhuman, supernatural spirit beings manifested on earth and spent circa 1,000 years mating with humans and taught all manner of evil to mankind in those days and polluted the world. Yes there were giants roaming the earth devouring the goods of men and causing much violence. But compared to the fallen angels themselves, the giants were a relative sideshow.
Fallen angels are gods as opposed to us flesh and blood humans. They are spirit men with much power. They are immortal and that is why Jesus said theLakeofFireis reserved for the Devil and his angels. Because they are supernatural beings, they can perform signs, miracles and wonders albeit these will be counterfeit. Compared to these powerful evil spirit beings, the giants were mere bumbling oafs.
So what exactly is going to happen once the Apocalypse begins? You can forget about mutant hybrid giants coming on earth. Forget about genetically engineered super-soldiers who will devastate mankind. This is not what Scripture tells us. For what is coming down is far, far worse and even more bizarre. For it is the Devil himself and all the hordes of Hell that are soon to appear on planet earth in plain sight, just as those original 200 were seen by the humans when they descended to earth in the days of Jared.
How say you this? I hear you ask. Let us look at what Holy Writ testifies. For as it was, so shall it be.
Revelation chapter 9:1 tells us that the Abyss, or bottomless pit, where these 200 angels are incarcerated, is to be opened and the contents released.
“And a fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from Heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key to the bottomless pit.
And he opened the bottomless pit…And there came out of the pit locusts upon the earth and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power.”
Locusts are metaphor referring to the fallen angels. This is evident in Luke 10 which talks of the 70 disciples Jesus sent out to preach and heal in his name. When they returned they said;
“Lord even the devils are subject unto us.”
Jesus replied; “Behold, I give you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy…notwithstanding rejoice not that the spirits are subject unto you.”
Angels are created spirit beings. So the context here is devils and spirits which Jesus calls scorpions and serpents. The locusts are also devils and serpents which are evil fallen angels just like the serpent who beguiled Adam and Eve in the garden. (Twice in Revelation it tells of the Dragon and serpent who is the Devil and Satan. And just as Jesus is termed the Lamb of God and the Lion of the Tribe of Judah, so the Devil is called the serpent and the Dragon).
So these fallen angels who are presently locked up in the Abyss are to be released into the earth once more when the Apocalypse begins which happens after the Rapture of the Church. Incidentally, Jesus, after he had risen from the dead and had received his new spiritual body, went and preached to these self-same spirits in the bottomless pit before he ascended into Heaven. This record is given in 1 Peter 3:19:
“By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison, which sometime were disobedient when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah…”
“For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell (Tartarus), and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgement…” 2 Peter 2:4
But wait. Something even more sinister occurs around the same time these evil locusts are released. Revelation 12 informs us that there is war in Heaven. Michael and his angels battle against the Dragon and his angels. But they prevailed not neither was their place found anymore in Heaven.
Woe unto the earth and its inhabitants. For the Devil is cast down and his angels with him and he is very angry because he knows he has but a very short time left. We know that the Devil and his angels still reside in Heaven because verse 10 tells us:
“For the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accuses them before God day and night.”
We, theChurchofGodand Body of Christ, are ‘the brethren’. The Devil has access to God and appears before him ‘day and night’, rehearsing the sins of Christians in the face of God and of His son. This truth is borne out in Ephesians which also reiterates that the Devil and his angels still reside in this parallel universe called Heaven. Eph 6:12 and 3:10:
“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood; but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against the spiritual wickedness in high places (epouranios).
“To the intent that now, unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places
(epouranios) Might be known, by the church, the manifest wisdom of God.”
This Greek word epouranios is used five times in Ephesians. All are referring to this place we call Heaven. And it teaches that the Devil and his comrades are still abiding in this location. Look at Eph. 1:20
“Which He wrought in Christ when He raised him from the dead and set him at His own right hand in the heavenly places” (epouranios).
We know Jesus ascended into Heaven and now sits on the right hand of his Father. But Ephesians informs us twice that Satan and the rest of the rulers of darkness also reside in this place. This confirms Revelation 12 which informs us of a coming war between the Devil and Michael which results in the Devil himself, plus the remainder of the one-third angels which rebelled with him, being cast down to earth.
When these beings are cast out of Heaven, I believe they lose some of their spiritual abilities and therefore will be manifest in plain sight before the eyes of an amazed public. This truth is alluded to in Jude who also provides us with another titbit of information on the fallen angels.
“And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, He hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgement of that great day.” Jude 6
The Greek for ‘habitation’ here is oiketerion. The only other place this word appears is in 2 Corinthians 5:2 where it is speaking about our spiritual bodies which we will receive when the Lord comes back to gather together his saints. So when it says of the original fallen angels that they ‘left their own habitation’, it is referring to their spiritual bodies and, I believe, is inferring that they are no longer invisible and become manifest in full view to the naked eye.
This is a terrible thing when you think about it. For this means that all the devils of hell, both from below and above, will soon invade the earth and everyone will see them. Jesus himself told us this.
“And there shall be signs in the sun and in the moon and in the stars, and upon the earth distress of nations with perplexity…men’s hearts failing them for fear and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth; for the powers of Heaven shall be shaken.” Luke 21:25, 26
Again we look afresh at Rev.6:13 which speak of the stars coming from Heaven to earth:
“The stars of Heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig casts her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.”
Angels are often called the ‘host of heaven’ and stars. And these stars fall from Heaven to earth like figs falling from a fig tree, shaken by a mighty wind. They are coming back ladies and gentlemen. In person. And this sight is going to be so fearsome that people are going to drop dead on the spot from heart attacks because of “looking after those things which are coming on the earth”.
It gets worse.
Revelation 17 and 18 talks of a coming ‘great city’ which is called “Mystery Babylon the Great, the Mother of Harlots and Abominations of the Earth”. Five times we are told that this harlot is a ‘great city that reigns over the kings of the earth’. In other words, the Antichrist and his accomplices will reign from this great city. But that’s another day’s work (I show exactly which city this is in my new book).
In Rev. 18 we are told about the destruction of this great city which will occur at the end of the Apocalypse when Armageddon happens. But listen to this:
“Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.”
Read that again. This powerful city, which is now present, will become home for the devils and a hold for every foul spirit. This is speaking of those evil fallen angels which are spirits, and the rest of the devils who will be ejected from Heaven and cast to earth. They are going to infest this city and everyone will see them. This is reiterated in Isaiah 13:21 which is speaking of the day of the Lord which is the day of Wrath which is the Great Tribulation. Referring to Babylon Isaiah says:
“But wild beasts of the desert shall lie there; and their houses shall be full of doleful creatures; and the owls shall dwell there, and satyrs shall dance there.”
These names are metaphors for foul spirits and evil angels. The owls here tie in with the unclean and hateful birds of John’s vision. Satyrs were half man, half goat in ancient mythologies such as Pan. ‘Wild beasts’ are literally ‘jackals’. Again we see on reliefs in the Temples of Egypt, depictions of gods which are men with bird’s heads, such as Horus which has the head of a falcon. Or Anubis which had the head of a jackal with a man’s body. We read of centaurs and the Minotaur in Greek mythology. Is it possible that, apart from devils and other foul spirits, there are also other vile creatures about to manifest once the gathering together of the Church is completed?
Here is another enigmatic prophecy from Isaiah 46:11:
“Calling a ravenous bird from the east, the man that executes my council from a far country.”
I do go a little deeper into this particular topic in my book, Return of the Antichrist and the New World Order. Here we may but speculate on the make up of the creatures that are going to become visible in the near future. But we are not speculating when we declare that it is not a bunch of hybrid giants which will invade earth. Nor a motley crew of mutant super-soldiers. No. What is about to befall this sad and sorry world is much, much more fearsome and terrible. For the Devil himself is coming down and all the host of Hell with him. And these beings are so vile and so evil that many, many people will drop dead when they see these beings fall to earth “like figs falling from a fig tree, shaken by a mighty wind”.
Compared to these powerful supernatural spirit beings, the giants look like an afternoon tea-party.
So now you know why so many of the movies we see now are mystical, magical, paranormal spectacles with aliens and ET’s and witches and vampires and zombies. Many of the TV programmes are the same featuring UFO’s and abductions and beautiful spirit men and women coming to earth to help mankind survive all the trouble that now face humanity. Books such as Harry Potter and Twilight advertise the same message.
Why is this? Because the whole population of the world is being conditioned and brainwashed and prepped in readiness for the soon appearing and manifestation of these devils and unclean spirits and doleful creatures in plain sight and full view on planet earth.
Now you know why the UN has an ambassador, Ms. Mazlan Othman, who is the ‘UN Diplomat for Aliens’ in the ‘Office for Outer Space affairs’. This is why Dr. Guy Consolmagno, the Pope’s astronomer says; of course there are aliens out there. But they are benign and their creator is the same God that created us. And when they arrive, Dr. Guy is willing to baptize them, should they want to be baptized. This is why some schools kids in theUKare receiving instructions in what to do should a UFO happen to crash-land in the school yard.
This why many of the music videos are spiritually motivated. Like Katie Perry’s latest called E.T. which depicts falling angels and shows her kissing the alien while images of animals mating flash in and out. At the end of the video, she is depicted as a woman from the waist up, but with the hips and legs of a deer. Many of the adverts on TV show beautiful looking female angels with wings falling to earth, out of the sky, like figs falling from a fig tree. It goes on and on and now that you have read this, it will become more obvious to you.
Lastly, I was returning home from visiting my two daughters inNew Zealandat Christmas. As my wife and third girl and I walked from the plane intoHeathrowAirport,London, I was dumbstruck by what I saw. There were large posters all along the wall on the way in. The poster was of the iconic oval shaped alien head with oval eyes. And written across the top of the picture of this alien was the word; ‘KNOWLEDGE’.
That’s it. That was all. I could not believe what I was looking at. Think about it. 40 million people pass throughHeathrowAirporteach year. But instead of seeing a picture ofBuckinghamPalaceor theTowerofLondon, orPiccadilly Square, instead there is this face of an alien with the word ‘knowledge’ written across the top!
Someone had to sanction this. Someone had to decide, in a top-level meeting, that this is what was going to adorn the passageway. This had to come from the senior executives who run the airport. And it is government owned. So what message are they sending out? What ulterior motive lies behind this seemingly innocuous poster? I think the answer is clear. They are coming back.
“The beast which you saw once was, now is not, and will come up out of the Abyss and go to his destruction. The inhabitants of the world, whose names have not been written in the book of life from the creation of the world will be astonished when they see the beast because he once was, now is not, and yet will come.” Rev.17:8

His thoughts tumbled in his head, making and breaking alliances like underpants in a tumble dryer.
The little boat gently drifted across the pond exactly the way a bowling ball wouldn’t.

Long separated by cruel fate, the star-crossed lovers raced across the grassy field toward each other like two freight trains, one having left Ballina at 6:36 pm travelling at 55 mph, the other from Claremorris 4:19pm at a speed of 35 mph.
The politician was gone but unnoticed, like the full stop after the Dr. on a Dr Pepper can.
John and Mary had never met. They were like two hummingbirds who had also never met.
The thunder was ominous sounding, much like the sound of a thin sheet of metal being shaken backstage during the storm scene in a play.
Even in his last years, Granddad had a mind like a steel trap, only one that had been left out so long it had rusted shut.
Shots rang out, as shots are wont to do.
The plan was simple, like my brother Phil. But unlike Phil, this plan just might work.
The young fighter had a hungry look, the kind you get from not eating for while.
He was as lame as a duck. Not the metaphorical lame duck either, but a real duck that was actually lame.Maybe from stepping on a landmine or something.
Her artistic sense was exquisitely refined, like someone who can tell butter from the “I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter” ad.
She had a deep, throaty, genuine laugh, like that sound a dog makes just before it throws up.
It came down the stairs looking very much like something no-one had ever seen before.
The ballerina rose gracefully en pointe and extended one slender leg behind her, like a dog at a lamppost.
The revelation that his marriage of 30 years had disintegrated because of his wife’s infidelity came as a rude shock, like a surcharge at a formerly surcharge-free cashpoint.
It was a working class tradition, like fathers chasing kids around with their power tools.
He was deeply in love. When she spoke, he thought he heard bells, as if she were a dustcart reversing.
She was as easy as the Independent crossword.
She grew on him like she was a colony of E. coli and he was room-temperature British beef.
Her voice had that tense, grating quality, like a first-generation thermal paper fax machine that needed a band tightened.
It hurt the way your tongue hurts after you accidentally staple it to the wall.
Her face was a perfect oval, like a circle that had its two other sides gently compressed by a Thigh Master.
Does Satan Live in Heaven?
I presume many readers will be a little startled at such a title for. However, over the 35 years since becoming a believer, I have learned that many topics I have been taught as truth have turned out to be quite opposite to what the Word of God states.
Here is another truth I have noticed lately; “You cannot put new wine into old wine skins.” Please bear this in mind as we tackle this delicate subject. For I was taught that Satan along with his one-third rebel band, were ousted from Heaven millenia ago when their attempt to usurp the Throne of the Most High God failed, and they were thrust down to earth. Not so.
Now the Word of God cannot contradict itself. And we must remember the lesson of Peter when Jesus asked his disciples, “Who do you think I am?” Peter answered correctly when he stated, “You are the son of the Most High God”. For this Jesus commended him and told him that flesh and blood had not revealed this to him, but revelation from on high had given him the answer.
Then Jesus proceeded to inform his disciples how that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer at the hands of the religious leaders and then die. At this Peter got all hot and bothered and more or less said, “No way will this happen as long as I am around”. But Jesus looked Peter right in the eye and said, “Get thee behind me Satan…you regard the things of man rather than the things of God”.
The lesson here is, the truth is a very narrow path. Jesus was the Word made flesh. He spoke the Word of truth because he is truth. When Peter veered off the truth, he was in deep doo-doo. So we must align our thoughts and beliefs with what the Word says, irrespective of what we were taught years ago. Otherwise ‘get thee behind me Satan’ might be applicable to us. With this in mind, we jump to Revelation 12:7-9,12
“And there was war in Heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the Dragon; and the Dragon fought and his angels. And prevailed not. Neither was their place found anymore in Heaven.
And the great Dragon was cast out; that old serpent called the Devil and Satan which deceives the whole world: he was cast out into the world and his angels were cast out with him.
Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea, for the Devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, for he knows that he has but a short time.”
Now most folks believe that this happened thousands of years ago. But verse 10 suggests this event is yet future:
“And I heard a loud voice in Heaven saying, Now is come salvation and strength and the kingdom of our God, and the power of our Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.”
That’s the KJV. The NIV renders the last phrase thus:
“For the accuser of our brothers, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down.”
The ‘brethren’ or ‘brothers’ here are believers. That is, they are born again Christians of the ecclesia, the ‘called out’ or Church of God and Body of Christ. And Satan, who is the accuser, appears before the Throne of God day and night, rehearsing our sins and throwing them in the face of God and of Jesus.
So Satan has access to heaven and to Mount Zion, the City of God. In fact, I propose that he and his entourage reside in Heaven. How can you say that, I hear you say? Let us go to the letter which is the pinnacle of the epistles specifically addressed to the to the Church of God; Ephesians.
“Which He wrought in Christ, when He raised him from the dead, and set him at His own right hand in the heavenly places.” Eph 1:20
Now the word ‘places’ is in italics. This tells us that this word was added and is not in the original text. The Greek for ‘heavenly’ is epouranios which appears five times in this epistle. So, we know that Jesus ascended into Heaven and sat down at the right hand of God. This is where the Father’s House with the many mansions are plus the 24 elders and an innumerable amount of angels. In Heaven.
Now look at Ephesians 3:10 which is speaking of the Devil and his angelic forces.
“To the intent that now, to the principalities and powers in heavenly places (epouranios) might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God.”
We can drop ‘places’ for it is in italics. So this verse is saying that the Devil and his princes are residing in Heaven. Still not convinced? Here is a verse we all know which will establish this truth. Ephesians 6:12
“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” (epouranios: heaven).
There you have it. Just as God raised Jesus from the dead and set him at His own right hand in Heaven, so too the Devil and the rest of the fallen angels, who are the rulers of the darkness of this world, are also in Heaven. And this is why he is able to appear before the Throne of God day and night, accusing the brethren.
Perhaps Heaven is a big place, like earth. It may be that the City of God is in one location and the Devil and his angels reside at some remove. Just as I write this in Ireland and many of you reading it are in the USA.
I know that the Devil is the god of this world and that he goes up and down in the earth like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. But he is a spiritual being. So he and his comrades can flit between Heaven and earth in a flash. However, it is plain and obvious that from the above quotes, and from Revelation 12, that they still reside in this parallel dimension known as ‘Heaven’.
Thus when we read in Revelation 6:13, “The stars of Heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casts her untimely figs…” we know this is speaking of a future event and the ‘stars’ here is a metaphor for the fallen angels who are to be ejected from Heaven after the war between Michael and his angels and the Devil and his host.
Consequently, the utterance by Jesus in Luke 10; “I beheld Satan as lightening fall from Heaven”, is a prophetic statement yet to be fulfilled.

Who exactly are the Nephilim? Part 2

I got some good comments on my first Blog, including a very eloquent and erudite piece from Rob Hughes. Thank you. I want to address the points Rob raises, which can be read in the ‘comments’ section.
But first, let me say that we do not have to get too bent out of shape about this topic. Our salvation is not dependent on it. But it is good to kick things around and winkle out what truths we can and iron sharpeneth iron.
Referring to the Nephilim, Genesis 6:4 says, “…these were the mighty men which were of old, men of renown.”
The NIV translates this as ;”…they were the heroes of old, men of renown.” The point being, because they are referred to as ‘men’ they must therefore be the giants.
But everywhere angels appear in Scripture, they are called very often, ‘men’. We had the two men in shinning clothes who spoke to the women who went to dress the body of Jesus. We had the two men who spent the night with Lot and who’s feet he washed (before they ate a hearty meal). We had ‘the man Gabriel’ whom Daniel spoke of etc.
The point is, angels are men, but of a spirit nature as opposed to us flesh and blood variety. “Let us make man in our image” is said several times in Genesis as well as a few places in the New Testament. So, we look like them, they look like us. The difference is that we are mortal whereas they are gods (this is whay Paul referred to Satan as the ‘god of this world’).
So when it talks of the ‘heroes of old’ and the ‘mighty men of renown’, then this can mean both the giants and the fallen angels themselves. For if you read the Greek and Roman and Egyptian mythologies, it speaks mainly of the exploits of the gods themselves as well as their giant offspring, and refers to these gods as the ‘heroes of old’.
These ‘gods’, for this is what they are called in ancient writings, dwelled on earth for perhaps 1,000 years or so prior to the Flood. Their dwelling was in places such as Mount Olympus and Delphi in Greece. Apollo had his oracle here and there are temples to him and the other gods all over Greece and Turkey and that neck of the woods.
So these gods manifested on earth in plain view of humans at that time who mated with them and bore giants to them. We know that these ‘gods’ were on earth for circa 1,000 years because Enoch informs us they descended on Mount Harmon ‘in the days of Jared’. Bullinger in his Chronology places the birth of Jared at 3544BC. The Flood occurred in 2348BC. That’s almost 1200 years later.
Thus the fallen ones, evil spirit men or fallen angels, were present and living on earth for all that time until they were incarcerated at the time of the Flood of Noah.
Could people see them and were they visible all this time? I reckon they were. For it was not a bunch of ephemeral, ethereal invisible spirits that manifested on earth and had sex with women. It was superhuman, supernatural, powerful spirit beings that appeared on earth and procreated with humans and taught them all manner of evil. The same goes for those fallen angels that descended AFTER the flood and had filled up the Promised Land with giants by the time Moses sent in the 12 spies after their exodus from Egypt.
“There we saw the Nephilim; the sons of Anak which come of the Nephilim.”
So there is absolutely no reason why the spies could have seen the fallen ones themselves and the sons of Anak, the giants, which come of the fallen ones. Incidentally, Anak is the name of a star in the constellation of Serpens in the heavenly bodies. In my book, The Nephilim and the Pyramid of the Apocalypse, I note how many of the ‘gods’ are named after stars or planets such as Apollo, Jupiter, Mercury, Perseus, Orion, Mars etc. This is why often in Scripture the angels are called the ‘host of heaven’ and are termed ‘stars’. For instance, “the stars of Heaven fell unto earth like figs falling from a fig tree…” Rev.6:13
So Anak may have been one such fallen angel thus his progeny are called the Anakim in the Old Testament.
Rob makes the point that Satan and the one third that rebelled with him were on earth since Genesis 3. But were they? I submit that Satan and the rest of his mob still reside in Heaven and that, according to Revelation 12, their eviction from the heavenly realms is still future. I will discuss this in another essay.
He also contends that the translators of the King James Bible did a tremendous job and would have been aware of who and what the Nephilim were. I agree. They did an amazing job. But they were not infallible and they did add in over 7,000 words to the KJV that were not in the original text. Also, it was 1611. They did not have electricity or computers. They could not pick up the phone and call a Hebrew scholar in Tel Aviv to ask a question. Or check an on-line Greek Lexicon. They worked by candle light using primitive tools. Yet they did a magnificent job. The Geneva Bible, the Cranmer Bible and the Tyndale Bible were all translated into English many years before the KJV. But that’s another story.
When one examines ‘the fallen ones’ in light of the context of all the places in Scripture where it speaks of angelic beings falling to earth, it becomes clear that the fallen angels of Genesis 6 are just that; the fallen ones.
Some have gone off in ‘wild and crazy tangents’ which may be ‘mistakes at best or complete heresy’ at worst. This is why many authors and teachers are saying that the giant hybrids are coming back and are making a big noise about it. I shall tackle this in the next post.

This is a bit of a thorny topic as most folks believe the Nephilim are the offspring of the fallen angels which were giants. I disagree.
When researching the Word, one must take into account several things regarding the word or phrase or topic under scrutiny. The word ‘nephilim’ was translated in the KJV as giants, because, I assume, they did not know what the word meant. Hence everyone thinks that the Nephilim are the hybrid offspring of spirits and humans which were giants.
But the Hebrew word ‘nephilim’ literally means ‘the fallen ones’. I contend that these were the fallen angels themselves, the sons of God, who fell from grace, fell from Heaven and fell to earth. Hence, ‘the fallen ones’. Nephilim.
But let us widen the study from Genesis 6. We are discussing fallen angels here. So to better understand our quest, we look at many of the places in Scripture and the Book of Enoch where it speaks of angels falling from Heaven to earth. This will provide a ‘scope’ of the topic of fallen angels and better inform us. To save time, I shall list these off quickly:
“How art thou fallen from Heaven O Lucifer…” Isa 14:12
“I beheld Satan as lightening fall to earth…” Luke 10:18
“I saw a star (angel) fall from Heaven onto the earth…” Rev.9:1
“And the stars (angels) of Heaven fell unto the earth as figs falling…” Rev.6:13
“Behold a star fell from Heaven…” Book of Enoch 86:1
“I saw many stars fall and cast themselves from Heaven…” Enoch 86:3
“He seized the first star that had fallen from the Heavens…” Enoch 88:1
“The seven heads are seven kings…five have fallen, one is and the other is not yet come…” Rev.17:9,10
(That is, these seven are Nephilim. This is why it says ‘five are fallen’ because they are ‘fallen angels’).
So the interesting thing to notice here is that everywhere it talks of angels coming from Heaven to earth, it uses the words ‘fall’ or ‘fallen’ to describe the event. This is not a coincidence. This is the proper usage of words by the Holy Spirit to communicate an idea.
God could have used other words such as descended; alighted; came down; landed; flew down; appeared etc. But He did not. He uses the word ‘fallen’. This gives us the overall picture regarding evil angels falling to earth and ties us back to the Nephilim of Genesis 6; the ‘fallen ones’. I know some will say that the Greek Septuagint translates this word as ‘gigantes’. But Greek was not in existence and only came along way after the events of Genesis 6 which was a mere 800 to 1,000 years or so after Adam and Eve in the garden.
So we must defer to the inspiried Word of God for direction and this informs us that those evil spirit men who manifested on earth way back in the dim, distant past on Mount Hermon were the Nephilim; the fallen ones. Thus there is a reason why Genesis 6:4 says:
“The Nephilim were ON THE EARTH in those days…”
The inference being that prior to this they were not on the earth. They were in Heaven and had not yet left their ‘first estate’.
So let us be technically and grammatically accurate when we speak of the evil fallen angels. These are the Nephilim who became the heroes of old, the men of renown in Greek and Roman mythology which speaks of the exploits of these gods of legend. Sure it speaks of the giants also. But these were a mere sideshow compared to the supernatural, powerful spiritual beings who manifested on planet earth in plain sight and caused all the sin and violence in those days which filled the earth with bloodshed and precipitated the Flood.
And, “as it was in the days of Noah…so shall it be”.
